A beginner's guide to finally writing a GREAT poem!

Poetry should come from within. It's a literary art, yes, but in my opinion, poetry is spiritual. It should come from within. Never force yourself to pick up the pen and write. Find the right time, the right place, the right energy, and then only should you pick up your pen and begin to write.

If it's your first time writing a poem, start small. Write about the minute (my-noot) things in life or things that make you happy. I, for one, started poetry by writing about my mother. You may wonder if i cringe when looking back at those poems. Yes,😂 BIG TIME! But I now realise that it was necessary in order to grow and make progress.

After you finish the stage above, you eneter a new phase in poetry where you don't know what exactly you want your poems to be about. All you know is that you want they to be different. Better. More impactful. So, think of topics that you believe should be voiced out and heard. Write about topics that are usually taboo. Topics that you think will benefit socety and raise awareness. Topics that will bring about change! Let it flow through your veins never force them out because, the more you force yourself to write a poem that you don't necessarilly care about, the more displeased you'll be with the end result.

Finally, to end this blog, i'd like to remind you all to always be proud of your poems and to always have confidence in yourself and the way you express yourself. Improvement takes time, but I promise you that the day will finally come!

Thank you so much for your time and have a great week! :)
