The silent devil

Updated: Jan 9, 2021

Around 24% of the worldly population is Muslim, but still, somehow they are always being discriminated, in some part of the world. At the end of both world wars with the Nazi Germany, the UN punished and prohibited any anti-Semitic behaviour, and or any other hate towards an ethnic group, because it was violation of human rights. No one should be ‘bullied’ because of their beliefs, theoretically.

Though mankind has forever been contemptuous, the current situations are getting quite extreme, especially for the Islamic minorities in first world countries.

The sleeping dragon, China, or the numerous nicknames that the western empire has for the nation, is torturing the Muslim Chinese community (known as Uighurs) for at least a year.

In 2010, China accused Norway of blasphemy; a term which when used from an atheist country was quite surprising.  But it now seems, 10 years later, it is them who are guilty of this accusation. Medias have all been talking about how quickly China built huge hospitals, during the local pandemic out blast, but very few are sharing the fact there are hastily constructing concentration camps to exterminate the minorities.

This may appear very strange, as concentration camps are and have been banned since the last century, but just like then, no one is reacting. Most Muslims living in Asia have a very decent life (Gulf countries, Malaysia, etc.), but the Chinese Government isn’t taking any logic or humanity into consideration. French president, Emmanuel Macron, warned China about consequences of these careless actions, though it hasn’t changed much, and France is not example to follow in the topic of Islam phobia.

In these concentration camps, in which Muslims are dragged into, children are being torn away from their parents and families separated. They are being shaved, forced to do things against their own religion and will: they are being fed pork, given alcohol to drink, they aren’t letting them fast and most devastatingly their praying mats are getting burnt as well as the Holy Quran.

A media supportive movement took place on Instagram: profile pictures were getting replaced by blue circles and petition links have been shared as well as awareness threads: all of these things have a good intention but sadly at a teenager’s scale, this also doesn’t impact the world much. But once again, the main goal is to spread awareness to a maximum amount of people to eventually actually impact the world, as the Media is not!

The real question which should be asked though is the following: why aren’t neighbouring countries and states doing anything to stop this? I guess, as China is the second greatest economic power in the world, it might be intimidating to approach, and diplomatic relations ‘mustn’t be broken’. But this topic should be taken seriously and discussed about with powerful countries around a table, before it’s too late because lives have been and are still at stake.

*Please note that just because the Government of this particular nation is wrong or considered evil (in this aspect), doesn't mean that the entire Chinese population is responsible for this. It wouldn't be fair or just to judge a whole country's people for the wrong doings by the nation's government. The only thing that seperates us from evil governments like theirs is our abundance of forgiveness and us never discriminating or judging a person just because of a Government or Supreme Authority.

Thank you
